Fibroids tumors are noncancerous kind that occur more commonly in uterus, but can develop in breasts too. Fibroid tumors of breasts are not harmful like that of uterus and hence, do not show any severe symptoms. Though, fibroid tumors of breasts are much smaller that form moveable, rubbery nodules that lead to irregular and intermittent pain, and the condition is termed as mammary dysplasia. Formation of fibrous muscular structure within the breast appears as swellings, near the breast surface.
These are not troublesome fibrous growths and usually not require any treatment, but still need to be monitored as can develop into breast cancer at certain times. Hence, it is crucial to have proper diagnosis of fibroid tumor of breasts and get them checked periodically to rule out any possibility of turning them dangerous.
Breast fibroids are commonly observed in women with 30 years or more and in around 33 % of cases, these are formed as a cumulative effect of hormonal changes, periodic menstrual cycles, accumulation of cellular debris and fluids in the breast. The possibility remains till menopause and post menopause it is not a commonly observed problem as the levels of progesterone and estrogen declines.
Major Symptoms Of Breast Fibroids
Breast fibroid tumors usually do not grow extremely large, but can grow to an extent that can modify the breast size. These fibroids can be easily felt by palpitations as fibroid are formed as nodules within the breast. Women can felt a different feel at the fibroid tumor region of breast as compared to rest of the breast. Breast fibroids symptoms are always irregular that may or may not cause irritation or burning pain in the bulging areas and develop a feel of extra heaviness of breast than usual.
Causes Of Breast Fibroids
Breast fibroid tumors are grown as a response to altered hormonal production. The changed hormonal levels can alter symptoms and size of these breast fibroids. Fibroid tumors of breasts are also referred as breast cysts. The periodic changes of progesterone and estrogen levels are the most important factor leading to breast fibroids. The imbalance of these hormones influences the growth of cells in breast tissues.
Moreover, thyroid hormone, prolactin growth factor and insulin also contribute in development of breast fibroids. Additionally, breast synthesize hormonal products from its fat and glandular tissues that further send signals to adjacent breast cells, responsible for breast fibroids formation and growth.
Breast fibroids are also formed due to breast implants. After breast surgery involving breast implant, the scar tissues may get accumulated surrounding the region of implant, leading to capsular fibrosis. This fibroid formation can be easily improved by altering the affected surface of breast. Frequent monitoring of breast fibroids is must as the symptoms appear inconsistently.
Dietary Therapy For Breast Fibroid Tumors
Breast fibroids can be managed by diet modifications. Include foods rich in vitamin B like nuts and lentils as it is beneficial in reducing fibroid growth.
Women with breast fibroids should have more of diuretic foods like watermelon, cucumber and fresh veggies, to prevent growth of breast cysts and fibroids and even nourish the breasts.
