Chronic prostate infection is the infection that affects the prostate gland and causes inflammation and severe pain. This problem is caused due to the bacteria that live in the large intestine of a person. This infection can be distinguished into four types that are caused due to different factors and thus are categorized separately.
Though the main cause of chronic prostate infection is not known completely, this ailment may be developed due to frequent infections of the urinary tract that often spreads to prostate gland that is placed right below the urinary bladder.
Chronic prostate infection can affect men of various age groups. It is known to affect about 25% of men including both young and middle aged men.
Different Causes of Chronic Prostate Infection
Escherichia coli or E. coli is one of the main bacteria that often lead to chronic prostate infections. About 80% of bacterial pathogens are known to be gram negative organisms such as Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas, Serratia, Enterococcus, Proteus species and Enterobacter.
When the prostate infection is caused due to the bacteria it is known as the acute bacterial prostatitis. The chronic prostate infection caused by E. coli bacteria can begin very quickly and last for more than 3 months.
Sexually Transmitted Disease
Organisms that cause various sexually transmitted diseases like Chlamydia, Ureaplasma, Neisseria and Trichomonas can also cause chronic prostate infection. This ailment often occurs in men who are between 20- 35 years and are sexually very active.
Chronic prostate infection is known to develop when men love to have unprotected sex with multiple partners including either men or women. When chronic prostate infection develops due to a sexually transmitted disease then you may observe inflammation in the testicles and the tube that connects the testicles with the vas deferens.
